Be Switched On these Holidays

Ahead of the festive season Londoners and visitors to the capital are increasingly out shopping and celebrating. We’re alerting the public to the risk of becoming a victim of fraud following theft or robbery of mobile phones.

Thieves don’t just want phones, they want access to bank accounts as well as photos of driver’s licences or passports stored on your phones, with the average individual loss running to tens of thousands.  Young males socialising on a night out can be particularly vulnerable after being targeted by these fraudsters using distraction or befriending techniques to obtain their PIN and phone.

The good news is that taking simple protective measures can significantly reduce the chances of becoming a victim.
